Adjustable coilover front suspension technology has been developed for decades in the world of motorsport, and further innovations in the offroad and desert racings sports, including here Australia, has led to significant advances which have flowed through to the retail market.

Cutting edge shocks have a threaded body and are supplied with either an adjustable spring seat or a top compression ring at the top of the spring. Both designs enable the adjustment of preload on the coil spring, which changes the ride height.

!!! WARNING !!!

Something to watch out for with some coilover shocks.

Certain coilover shocks don't provide enough clearance between the coil spring and the sway bar. You can fix this by installing a sway bar relocating bracket, which moves the sway bar forward. Just be warned that this fix is a compromise and causes clearance issues itself between the swaybar and radiator support brackets.

Many drivers address this by moving the support brackets down, reducing ground clearance. You could also consider installing a high clearance bash plate, which gives recovery points and makes room for the swaybar.
