How long do light bars last?

Modern light bars are LED or CFL powered and good ones should last between 30,000 and 50,000 hours, with many models running even longer.

How do you measure a light bar?

Light bars are measured from end to end, measuring only the length of the light bar itself, do not include any brackets or mounting fittings.

Can you use light bars on the road?

Unless you have a model that is clearly stated and indicated to be suitable for on road use, absolutely not... light bars not suitable for on road use are incredibly dangerous.

Can you have a light bar on your roof?

Yes, that is legal but there are some things to think bear in mind - the light bar must be on the front half of the vehicle, which means in a dual cab you're unable to put the light bar on the roll bar tray.

If this happens to you, the chances are that your light bar has a dimmer switch. Older dimmer switch designs were made to use with incandescent bulbs and they are prone to damaging the circuitry of CFL and LED bulbs.
